HOW SWEET IT
IS!
Maybe that would summarize
how Western Metro Manila Chapter felt
when its name was called and echoed on
the walls of Baguio Convention Center
up to the mystical mountains of Benguet.
On May 2, 2008 at the
62nd Annual National Convention, the Awards
Committee handed the most prestigious
award a Chapter would get: The “HALL
OF FAME AWARD”!
MILESTONE
It wasn’t an easy
climb. The Philippine Mt. Everest Team
led by Leo Oracion, able to reach the
summit in about Two (2) years that includes
acclimatization and training. It took
Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls Eight
(8) years to reach the Finals and capture
the NBA Championship Trophy. But for a
Chapter to gain the elusive recognition,
it needs 10 uninterrupted Outstanding
Chapter Award; that means, 10 long years
of exemplary service and undertaking!
Four months ago, or should
I say, after nine and a half years of
persistency, PRESSURE was mounting on
the shoulders of the officers. Meeting
after meeting was held. Every avenue of
activities, from Professional Development
to Social Involvement was monitored if
it satisfies all the requirements set
by the National Awards Committee. Adrenaline
rush was visible on the faces of officers
and committee chairs.
In the last half of the
fiscal year, twelve (12) seminars were
conducted. Various topics were offered
from Tax seminars, PSA, PFRS to Code of
Ethics and Good Governance. At least a
thousand participants were benefited on
this venture. The 5th International Conference
held in Singapore last May 17-22, 2008
was well attended by the Chapter’s
officers and members. Membership campaign
was intensified when it undertook the
General Membership Meeting on March 25,
2008 at Intercontinental Hotel in Makati.
Adopt A Child at Hospicio de San Jose
on January 5, 2008, Livelihood project
and Adopt A Child at the Daughters of
St. Francis de Sales and Livelihood project
“Meat processing” at District
Welfare Office III in Manila, were among
the projects undertaken for Community/Social
Involvement. Annual church visit was observed,
this time in Tagaytay, Cavite and Lipa
in Batangas.
DESTINY
After the hurdles, PRESSURE
vanished. EXCITEMENT and ANTICIPATION
heightens…. on the hearts of WMMC.
Because they knew the
inevitable, they knew it’s forthcoming….
DESTINY unfolds…..
WMMC IS HALL OF FAME
HALL OF FAME IS WMMC!
It is for this reason
and just fitting to honor the men and
women who led and made the difference:
(it is the writer’s intention to
include all the officers, but cannot do
so due to space limitations)

CONCLUSION
As we embark on the new
fiscal year, 2008-2009, with a theme,
VISION IN ONE, and with Mr. Aphat Martinez
as WMMC president, another milestone is
just around the corner.
In behalf of WMMC and
PICPA, we take this opportunity to call
on “inactive” members to be
motivated, and re-activate to partake,
the best things the organization could
offer.
The Philippine Mt. Everest
Team or any mountaineer would say, “the
greatest and best achievement for a mountaineer
is not reaching the summit, but going
back on the ground safe and sound”.
For Michael Jordan, “it’s
easy to reach the top, but to stay on
top would spell the difference”.
WMMC shares the same
principle. And it intends to stay that
way; to be at the forefront to achieve
PICPA’s vision and mission.
